"Macrophotography" is a truly magnificent book in a large format. Many tips and new ideas ! If all you can afford is one book, then get this one.
"Close-Up Photography" - a really good book.
"Nature and Landscape Photography", nice pictures, lots of photos, nice hints and tips.
"Digital Photography Expert : Close-up photography" - it will definitely help you.
"Nature's Best Photography" is a truly remarkable edition with first class photos which will impress and inspire you. Comes out four times a year.
Books exploring the Image Editing software Photoshop CS
Yes, you are not mistaken, it is the manual. If you read it, you already know most of what Photoshop can do for you. No color photos but it's free with the software.
"The Photoshop CS book for digital photographers". Very well written and with tons of examples.
"Adobe Photoshop CS for Photographers" is a massive book covering almost every aspect of photoshop. Not very easy to read (as the previous one) but contains more information if you need to go in depth.
"Digital Photo Effects" is a very nice magazine which will keep you updated with the latest additions to image editors plus many hints and tips and examples. What makes it worthy is that it doesn't assume you are already an expert so you can easily understand the instructions and re-create the effects on your computer.
A Collection of great photos which can show you how great photographers see the world and people around us.
"The Best of LIFE" is absolutely the best book you can get. Note: Extremely large format volume, HC. Publ. Time-Life Books, 1973
"Life at War" Note: Extremely large format volume, HC. Time-Life Books, 1977. If you are looking for pictures which capture the "feeling" of the moment, this book is for you.
"Life in Space" Note: Extremely large format volume, HC. Publ. Time-Life Books, 1983. Why is this volume included here ? Because it has some spectacular photos and many of them are taken under far worst conditions than the ones we all shoot under. If they can make it, why not us ?
"Life goes to the Movies" Note: Extremely large format volume, HC. Publ. Time-Life Books, 1975. Great portraits, great shots, great setups. Excellent information.
"National Geographic - The Best Pictures" - Need we say more ? Taking a look at the cover should wet the appetite of every serious photographer. One of the most recognizable photos of our times is the perfect introduction to some of the best photos ever taken.
"National Geographic" magazine. A wealth of top class photos every month (and we also learn something !)
"Forever in a Moment" pp. 370, HC. Publ. International Society of Photography, 2003. One of the many collections published by them. They have thousands of photos - some of them really spectacular.
"Nikon Photo Contest International" - A collection of the best photos from all over the world. A "must-have".
"Minolta Mirror". I have several older volumes so I don't know if this title is still published. However, the ones I have speak for themselves.
"Earth" A compact (20 x 20 cm) but huge in content book. 770 pp., HC. A small format book with some of the best landscape photos you will ever see. You can also buy the title "Sea" for more water ! Donated by Thanassis Moschou to me.. (my friend Nikos Tsitouras got the "Sea" volume - I tried to take both but.. )
