| Corcovado – Christ the Redeemer. Basically, the Corcovado is a tall hill rather than a mountain (2,130 feet - 710 mt). The Cristo Redemptor (Christ the Redeemer) is the gigantic statue ideally protecting Rio, and stands on top of it. It is 30 meters (90 feet) tall and weights about 1.000 tons. It is nice and very interesting to go there by means of a small train (Trem do Corcovado) that moves through the slopes of the Tijuca Forest, another interesting place in Rio, which I’m going to visit soon (and report on it)...
The view from the top of the hill (toward Leblon) ...
Another view (pointing to Pao de Azucar) from the top of Corcovado (above). Of course, the most interesting thing is pictured below:
The huge statue, in all its majestic beauty. Just before closing this visit, a shot of the colorful Trem do Corcovado ... the train, waiting for tourist, is ready to climb ... Leonardo enjoyed the trip a lot!!!
