MY
AFRICAN CICHLIDS VIDEO CD
by
AURELIAN TUTA
This
Video CD is the result of the efforts of fellow hobbyist Aurelian
Tuta (Craiova, Romania). It contains a video of his own tank (which,
by the way, was appointed "Tank of the Month" by the Age
of Aquariums webmaster) but it is not only that. It also contains an
offline version of his website, a big and well built one. This
particular CD-ROM makes an excellent first impression (see photo
above) and shows, from the very first moment, the time and effort
that have gone into it. The video itself starts with a short presentation of
the actors (his fish) and runs for approximately 50 minutes. The
species are presented one by one (eight of them) by their scientific
names so you will be able to recognise them in the video that
follows. If you
want to see how you should set up a "very well designed mbuna
tank, which should set an example for most mbuna keepers"
(these words were used by me when I was reviewing his site in the Links
section) this CD is for you. Well, it is not only a very
well designed tank what you will see. What's more, you will have the
opportunity to see how the fish live and respond in an artificial
environment which is the most important issue for the hobbyist. And
actually this is the issue which is overlooked by almost every other
CD-ROM in the market today. It is nice to look at mbuna feeding from
the huge rocks in Lake Malawi, but how will they behave in the
limited space of a tank where huge rocks are out of the question?
How should you design the tank to allow for as many hiding places as
possible? These are the questions mostly asked by hobbyists and this
CD has the answers. In order to view the video you only need the Microsoft Media Player software (available from
Microsoft for free - Internet Explorer users can get it on line by
choosing the "Windows Update" option in their Tools bar).
Aurelian is not promoting this CD as a "blind" offer. On
the contrary, you may visit his site and see some sample
videos and then decide if this CD is for you. In order to get this Video CD you
can contact Aurelian on
line. |
