Keeping Malawi Cichlids in Lithuania - Part IV

by Sigitas Adomaitis

Melanochromis auratus

Some comments :

Special fishes for me… When I bought those 5 juveniles a few years ago, I never thought I would become a "cichlidmaniac". I have now 1 male and 2 females. Those fishes have successfully spawned a lot of times till now. What is perhaps very interesting to note is that my M.auratus male is not the most aggressive fish in this aquarium.

Apart from cichlids I also keep 2 Ancistrus sp. and a Synodontis decorus in this tank. The Ancitrus sp. is used as an algae eater. It is not a very interesting fish, if we exclude it's body shape. Synodontis decorus is mostly invisible in the  aquarium. Many times I tried to take a photo of this fish without any luck. He hides somewhere (I don't even know where) whenever when it sees me with my camera. Anyway, I hope that some day I'll manage to get it in focus.
