MCH Meeting - A Chronicle, by George /6

Here we are, facing a 12000 liter tank (which would make us much happier if it was built in our homes). The tank looked really impressive (having a 5 meter window and a depth of 2.4 meters). This is another thing we learned from this trip. Depth can make all the difference between an interesting and a breathtaking tank.

The species in the tank may not look that impressive (it used to house many more cichlids in the past) but the depth creates the impression of natural. A depth of 2.4 meters gives the impression that this is the real thing. When you look at the back of the tank everything fades away creating the illusion that it goes on for ever.

Francesco is taking a photo of this tank while Frank has the overall control. You can see through the tank's glass that only the first 1-1.5 meters are clearly visible.

Having destroyed Frank's schedule we decided to split. Thus, while Frank would go back home to prepare the dinner, the rest of us would visit Hasselt, where Hustinx Discus was located. A very highly regarded place which is amongst the best as far as discus are concerned. Of course, we had our own reasons to visit it. There were rumors that this place also had some freshwater stingrays.. More calculations for yet one more tank..
