A new Hobbyist joins the club - part II

by John and George Reclos

Photo of the Month - November 2002

Photos of the Microgeophagus ramirezi trio. The fish will spend their whole day patrolling their territory which includes the whole bottom of the tank. While spawning, the other female and the H. rhodostomus are chased from the spawning site (usually a stone) by the male. Although they only measure 4 cm in size they already show the typical cichlid behavior. One more female may be added in a month. The brown overcast color is due to the peat filtration. (Photos: October 2002)

A trio of top quality M. ramirezi specimens in the tank of Hydrocosmos - a petshop in Athens. When kept in the correct conditions this fish will look truly spectacular.

See next pages for photos of the fishes.
