Mastino Napoletano (Xerxes)

Reclos family, Athens, Greece

It may not be the prettiest dog around (for us it definitely is) but it makes one of the best home guards (although we don't care that much about it). Growing to a massive 80+ Kg (150+ pounds) this slowly moving dog is one of the most loyal breeds. An ancient breed from Italy (Francesco's homeland) it was used as a war dog - among others. Aged just 2 months when those pictures were taken, it has already become a nice addition to our zoo !! We would like to thank Francesco and Stefania for their precious help on a serious health matter. Xerxes and us are indebted to them.

The art of being cute. December 08, 2001

and one month later.. January 9, 2002.

It may not "look" too bright but it is !!
