top picture shows the old female carrying once more. The initial pace of
spawning (once pet two months) has now dropped to once every four
months. The picture in the middle shows a subadult male. As you can
see, the presence of the father in the same tank doesn't allow this
male to display its normal color. This male was aged 16 months when
the photo was taken. In the photo at the bottom, the same male shows
the adult coloration for an instant (usually when its father is in
the other side of the tank).
