PUNDAMILIA NYEREREI

PUNDAMILIA NYEREREI
(HAPLOCHROMIS NYEREREI)

Photos: Top (4/2000) : This is the photo of some of the Haplochromis nyererei fry (aged 5 months). This species is really aggressive even at this stage. The photo above says it all. A dominant male in the photo keeps all other fish in the back of the tank. Another male (at the top) very rarely swims in front part of the tank. Even while eating, the dominant male will not allow the other fry to come close. As you can see, the spectacular colors of this species are already visibly on the dominant male, while the subdominant male's colors are much fainter. Bottom (9/2000) : A sub adult male (aged 10 months) becomes the hyperdominant fish in its tank.

Picture shot in April 2000.

See next page for some magnificent shots of the male.
