Top (4/2000) : This is the photo of some of the Haplochromis nyererei fry
(aged 5 months). This species is really aggressive even at this
stage. The
photo above says it all. A dominant male in the photo keeps all
other fish in the back of the tank. Another male (at the top) very
rarely swims in front part of the tank. Even while eating, the
dominant male will not allow the other fry to come close. As you can
see, the spectacular colors of this species are already visibly on
the dominant male, while the subdominant male's colors are much
fainter. Bottom (9/2000) : A sub adult male (aged 10
months) becomes the hyperdominant fish in its tank.
