This is a picture of my
Aulonocara hansbaenschi or “Red Shoulder Peacock”. I have been
breeding this cichlid for over a year. He is currently three years
old.
MCH note: To the
best of our knowledge, all "red shoulder" peacocks are hybrids. One
should keep that in mind when choosing to keep this "species". We
are currently investigating this issue and we may revise our
position if necessary.
On October 14, 2002 we received the following comment from
Andy (www.sydneycichlid.com)
to whom special thanks. The hansbaenschi red shoulder (or red
flush) originates from Fort Maguire in the lake, and therefore is
not a hybrid. Contact Ad Konings for more info. He describes it
in Malawi Cichlids in their natural habitat Vol 3 page 198.
