A
six month old fry surviving in the non-mbuna tank (top photo). As
always, some
of the fry will survive no matter how hostile the environment may be. The correct setup of the tank will increase their
chances. In
the second photo you can see the same fish at the age of 12 months.
Now it has reached a size that allows it to swim in the tank instead
of staying under the rocks all day long. Such conditions may prevent
the fish from being killed on the spot but have an impact on the
growth rate. The same fish in a fry raising tank will have doubled
in size.
