SYNODONTIS OCELLIFER

SYNODONTIS OCELLIFER

A nice little fellow, particularly peaceful, ideal for any African cichlid tank. Estimated to reach a final size of 30 cm it will very rarely get close to it in a tank. As with all Synodontis catfishes it is a primarily nocturnal species which will also come out during the day to feed after getting acclimatized to the environment. The ideal water conditions are a neutral pH and a GH around 10. However, in the African cichlid tank it can live without any problems at a pH > 8.2 and a GH > 12. The fish in the photo lives in a 55 liter tank along with a trio of Haplochromis nyererei. Photo: shot in October 2000.
