The
photo of the scale pattern of Red Empress was shot in order to show
the delicate coloring of its scales (November 1999). This type of
coloring produces a different color with light at various angles.
That is why it is very difficult to reproduce the fishe's stunning
colors in full body shots. This shot was made at 9 cm using an auto
bellows and 50mm lens.
Close-up
shot of fry : 100 ASA film, 300 mm lens, f/11, 1/60 sec,
auto-bellows, Sunpack flash unit (GN:36 at 1/8th setting) taped over
the lens, shot from a distance of 80 cm. Flash head tilted slightly
to avoid reflections from the glass. Hand-held camera. An extremely
difficult shot because, unlike its parents, fry moves constantly at
randomg directions. Panning at this magnification is a very
painstaking job which may take a lot of time. |
