Picture on the left: Aquatica logo and Ioannis
Paraschos - (the man who runs it). For those wondering, yes, I
had my inspirations that day.. Aquatica was founded back in 1985 and
it is now considered one of the leading companies in the fishy Greek
market.
|
| "There
are no more true fish hobbyists in our days. Years ago there used to
be more, far more. People who loved their pets, their fish. Yes,
they realized their fish as their pet and they cared for it. In our
days all they ask for is color. Give me color in my tank this is all
they ask for". Those were the first words I exchanged with
Ioannis (John) Paraschos, owner of Aquatica, the biggest and largest
selling wholesaler in Greece. I knew Aquatica very well (most of the
equipment I use in my tanks come from them) but I hadn't have the
opportunity to meet Mr. Paraschos in person. Thanks to my visit in
Zoophilia 2000, an exhibition held in Athens in mid October, I came
to meet him. |

| "I
try to follow the advances in the hobby. Many times I import
equipment that I know are too advanced or too expensive for the
Greek market. What's worse, retailers will try to make the most
profit out
of them, the equipment is already expensive thus it becomes out of
reach for the hobbyist". |

In the days to come a pictorial tour at Aquatica
headquarters will be available in this section. With hundreds of
tanks, thousands of fish and a 3.500 liter Malawi cichlid tank, I
feel that all visitors of MCH
will have something to look at.
