Golden nugget pleco II

New Photo - March 2005 Click on the photo for a high resolution image. Photo by Frank Panis /MCH

I added 2 of these very nice "small spotted" Golden Nugget Pleco to my 750L Amazon tank in December 2003. The label on the tank in the shop said that they are Baryancistrus sp. L018. I found that they were also called L085. There is also the "large dotted" Golden Nugget that is called L177. More info on them can be found in Francesco's fast fact sheet.

These beauties are a bit shy, but once they grow larger they should come out in the open more often. I haven't seen them eating, but I regularly drop some algae tablets especially for them and the Sturisoma aureum in the aquarium after dark.

A bit shy, but can be caught on photo IF they are carefully approached.

Wood is their favorite "chewing toy"

The tank window is also appreciated. As the fish doesn't see me I can come very close to it!
